Allan Stobart Fuels, an i-Meter customer, took over the management of three trucks fitted with Alfons Haar electronic meters in December 2015.
The each truck had a different Alfons Haar meter:
- ELZ
- CountMaster
- X-Master 4
Alfons Haar is not a common meter here in Ireland and when i-Meter was connected to these meters, we could not recognise the data being sent by the meter to the printer. We made changes to the software and then remotely updated the 3 i-Meter boxes but still the data could not be recognised.
A decision was made for myself to visit Allan Stobarts depot. I connected a laptop to each of the Alfons Haar meters and captured the data being sent to the printers. Whilst still on site, I e-mailed the three files back to our offices in Dublin and the developers were then able to see exactly what format the data was in.
They quickly made changes to the software and we were able to update the 3 i-Meter boxes remotely over the air, on the same day. With the new software loaded onto the i-Meter boxes, we could then start to capture deliveries and plot them onto Google Maps.
